Job Summary

The Athletics Department welcomes applications for a Assistant Director for Academics. The Center provides an unparalleled level of service in an inclusive community, defined by ethical excellence in the areas of good academic standing, retention, and graduation rates.


What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Plan, Coordinate, and MonitorServe as liaison with the Athletics Department for the Academics website.

  • For content only, develop and enhance site while considering each viewing audience: current student-athletes, perspective student-athletes, parents, department staff, campus faculty and staff, alumni, community, and donors. Research in order to integrate innovative practices into our site.

Other related duties

  • Perform all work responsibilities and maintain confidentiality in all applicable policies, rules, regulations and laws regarding NCAA, Pac-12, Athletics Department, University policies and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in education or comparable field. Five years experience in academic advising or counseling of student-athletes at a Division I institution in compliance with NCAA rules. Or a Master's degree and three years of professional, related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Work may require travel with the team.
  • Experience working with football and/or men's basketball student-athletes.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external constituencies to design individualized academic plans and monitor the progress of identified students, designing interventions when needed.
  • Ability to design, supervise, and evaluate the effectiveness of study hall and academic support programs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all constituents.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation and records.
  • Ability to ensure adherence to NCAA, Pac-12, and institution rules and regulations.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience working with Division I student-athletes in an academic setting.
  • Experience coordinating and implementing programs (such as study hall, peer mentoring, orientation, first-year, etc.).
