Part-Time Writer & Social Media Assistant

Job Summary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• An entrepreneurial spirit is key for the position as the digital network continues to take shape during the 2019 calendar year. Candidates should have a strong sense of voice with a background in journalism and social media to build upon.  The Writer & Social Media Assistant will have the opportunity to be part of a new, growing vertical within the organization and have the full opportunity to continue to grow in the role as the network grows itself. 
• Assist with development of Social Media strategy for The Identity Tampa Bay 
• Manage digital network social media daily and post on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
• Help write daily newsletter using brand voice for digital network
• Write, edit and publish articles following the best practices of SEO, storytelling and   audience engagement
• Curate website to showcase most relevant, timely, and popular content
• Create multimedia content and programming to enhance daily coverage (i.e. video,  graphics, text images, live streams, slideshows, social media embeds, podcasting)
• Plan digital initiatives for big events
• Send breaking news alerts, as needed
• Field producing, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field
• Working knowledge of WordPress, Google Analytics, CrowdTangle, Avid, Adobe Premiere
• Working knowledge of all social media and digital platforms, including best practice
• Ability to develop and execute social media strategy 
• Solid editorial judgment and ethics
• Strong writing and video skills
• Ability to tell stories in multimedia formats
• Highly self-motivated with a passion to help grow a digital network from the ground-up
• Desire to work in a start-up environment
• Capacity to keep calm under deadline pressure
• Ability to learn quickly and collaborate in a fast-paced environment
