Job Summary
SUMMARY
The National Hockey League seeks a full-time attorney.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle all matters related to labour and employment laws, with a focus on applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide counsel on internal employment and human resources matters, employment
- litigation, and Canadian labour laws.
- Draft and update employee manuals and other policies to comply with applicable Canadian laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience at a law firm.
- Experience and knowledge of labour and employment laws.
- Superior drafting skills.
- Ability to reason through complex legal issues and documents; distill relevant information and summarize in a clear coherent manner; and develop and advocate League positions and respond to adversarial positions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills.
- Ability to effectively and independently manage multiple assignments, priorities and deadlines in a timely manner; with attention to timeliness, quality and detail.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Bilingual English & French (both written and oral) is preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Law degree
