Job Summary

 


SUMMARY
Incumbents are responsible for identifying sales opportunities and generating revenue through sponsorships and event recruitment for Surprise Stadium and the Sports & Tourism Department. Incumbents facilitate all necessary components of sales and sponsorships from lead development to fulfillment, including Major League Baseball Spring Training game day promotions. Incumbents cultivate relationships with local businesses, national organizations, and third party event promoters. Incumbents assist in attracting, coordinating, and facilitating events and activities within the multi-use stadium and complex. Other duties include advancing group and corporate outing sales, and assisting in the promotion of Surprise Stadium and Sports & Tourism events through social media and other marketing outlets.
 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies, cultivates and solicits sponsorship leads; cultivates new business through prospecting new customers; performing cold calls to area businesses, local groups, organizations and individuals

  • Identifies partners and leads to generate facility rentals; prepares and maintains a variety of records and/or reports including generating weekly sales efforts reports; documents all communication with leads/clients

  • Coordinates and/or participates in a variety of meetings, training sessions, and/or other related events, including attending community events for the purpose of maximizing sales opportunities

  • Publicizes and promotes programs/events using a variety of media sources; assist with direct mail marketing to identified target areas; secures high-level program sponsorships/partnerships from national, regional, and local companies

  • Prepares and submits sponsorship proposals; assists in negotiating and closing sponsorship/partnership agreements

  • Achieves quarterly and annualized sales goals

  • Assists group sales by pursuing new group and corporate outings for Spring Training

  • Coordinates pre-game ceremonies; develops scripts, promotions, sponsored game day elements

  • Works to ensure ROI for sponsors/partners

  • Attracts new events to the City by working with third parties, including arts and cultural events, sporting events, weddings, and facility rentals

  • Assists with event and game day supervision

  • Assists with event budgets and sales projections

  • Performs market research and assists in strategy development

  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility.

  • Using a computer and related software applicationsAbility to:

  • Organize resources and establishing priorities

  • Perform basic bookkeeping

  • Qualify and generate sales leads

  • Work independently, prioritize work, self motivated and results oriented

  • Prepare and maintain records and reports

  • Work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Exercise resourcefulness when meeting new problems

  • Generate new and creative sales ideas and leads

  • Work under a fast-paced performance-driven environment

  • Ability to effectively present detailed information both in person and electronically to prospective clients

  • Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in related field and three years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
