Job Summary

Job Description

  • Reports to the Director of Athletics.
  • Develop, organize, and administer all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Women's Softball program.
  • Assist in the game day promotions of our intercollegiate games. T
  • Ten month, part-time position.

Responsibilities 

  • Recruiting qualified student-athletes for a competitive team within the Conference.
  • Coaching
  • Conducting and supervising all practice sessions and home/away contests.
  • Assigning responsibilities to and supervising the Assistant Coach Women's Softball and volunteer assistant coaches.
  • Developing a comprehensive contest schedule with the Assistant Director of Athletics.
  • Coordinating all team travel.
  • Mentoring and monitoring athletic, academic and personal progress of student-athletes with the Athletics Compliance Coordinator.
  • Coordinating fundraising and community service events for the Women's Softball program.
  • Assisting the Sports Information Director with game day promotions and halftime events at intercollegiate contests.
  • Responsible for compliance with NCAA, Conference and SUNY Old Westbury rules and regulations.
  • Drivers of the passenger vans for all away team travel.
  • Participation required as necessary in Athletic Department sponsored events.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and three years softball coaching experience at the collegiate level required with demonstrated success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven recruiting skills.
  • Must have a commitment to student-athlete academic success and well-being.
  • Must have and maintain the appropriate valid driver's license and have a motor vehicle record free of major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
  • Experience with game day promotions and organizing half time events.
  • Experience with multicultural student body populations.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.
