Job Summary

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program design and implementation for the University’s 20 intercollegiate teams.
  • Instruct athletes in the following areas: teach proper speed, agility, and weight lifting and conditioning methods and techniques.
  • Motivate student-athletes to train, condition and perform to their highest potentials.
  • Educate student-athletes concerning the dangers inherent to illegal/banned performance enhancing drugs and counsel athletes on proper nutrition.
  • Comply with ASC/NCAA rules and regulations and support NCAA DIII / ASC Philosophy and Mission.
  • Maintain schedule for strength/conditioning facility, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain proper strength and conditioning equipment and monitors all department weight training facilities for condition and safety of equipment.
  • Manage the budget for the Strength and Conditioning Program.
  • Assist athletic trainers with injury rehabilitation.
  • Manage the work-study program for strength and conditioning facility.
  • Train, schedule and supervise student assistants and interns.
  • Promote the program (on campus, in the community, outside the community – speeches to local organizations, player volunteer work, camps, etc.).
  • Attain/Maintain CPR/AED certification.
  • Assist with post-conference athletic events.
  • Professional Development – annually attend clinics or do other things to better your coaching ability. Maintain your certification through continuing education.
  • Represent the University on and off the field in a positive fashion. Maintain appropriate relationships and communicate appropriately with Alumni, SA’s, Team, Coaching Staff, Community, and ASC.
  • Depending upon the institution’s needs, head coaches may be assigned to teach courses as mutually agreed upon between the Athletic Director and the appropriate Division Chair.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational ability, high level of accuracy, attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic, athletic and drug-free performance success on the parts of student-athletes
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Word Pro, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Enjoy working with college students
  • Adhere to a flexible and changing work schedule including evenings and weekends as required

Qualifications:

  • Required:  Strength and Conditioning Certification
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, SCA/CSCS or CSCCa/SCCC certification
