Job Summary

Job Summary 
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll and payroll related functions for the Hockey Centers, Hockey Club, and the NHL affiliate team.
  • Position is also the main point of contact for employees in matters of time, attendance, and payroll.
  • Must demonstrate an awareness to the confidential nature of the position and ability to assist employees in a tactful and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
  • Process all payrolls including semi-monthly, multi-state payroll cycle for employees (including players), and special payrolls including annual bonuses.
  • Oversee timekeeping entries and approvals for all non-exempt employees in all locations.
  • Researches discrepancies/errors and makes any adjustments/corrections as necessary.
  • Be the main point of contact for our payroll outsourcer.
  • Liaison with payroll outsourcer to resolve any tax issues/discrepancies.
  • File taxes/reports with agencies that payroll outsourcer does not handle.
  • Process wage garnishments and child support withholding orders.
  • Prepare and submit NHL escrow reports.
  • Manage Player dues deductions and reconcile invoices.
  • Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports.
  • Manage all aspects of W2 generation and distribution.
  • Process expense reports each payroll.
  • Analyzes, recommends, and implements changes to the payroll process to create efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll and employment laws, rules, and regulations and stay up to date on developments within these areas.
  • Work closely with the finance department regarding payroll data.
  • Assist with other Human Resources duties, as necessary.
Education & Experience
  • Degree related to business is preferred.
  • 3-5 years payroll experience.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically MS Excel.
  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels including multi-state filings and payments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven time-management skills.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
