Job Summary
Job Description
- Responsible for assisting with all aspects of an NCAA Division I Basketball program including:
- The identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes primarily in California.
- Overseeing the academic progress of specific student-athletes.
- Preparing and conducting practices and reviewing film for individual enhancement; fostering the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes.
- Facilitating administrative duties and paperwork.
- Liaison between Basketball program and Sports Information Department.
- Communication with local coaches.
- Community service outreach.
- Representing the sports program as needed in association with promoting and fundraising for men's basketball.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with a college-level program.
- 2 - 4 years of related experience.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles.
- Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the NCAA or NAIA, as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
- Demonstrated effective problem solving and communication skills, verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants.
Preferred Qualifications
- International coaching experience.
