  • Coordinates and maintains a comprehensive NCAA Division I compliance program.
  • Establishes, implements, monitors, and enforces policies and procedures that will enable the University, athletics department, student-athletes, and representatives of athletics interests to be in compliance with NCAA, Conference USA, and University regulations, as well as state and federal laws.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Educates all athletic staff members, student-athletes, representatives of athletics interests, and the community regarding NCAA and Conference USA rules and regulations.
  • Provides interpretations of NCAA rules.
  • Works closely with the Student Academic Enhancement Staff and Registrar to determine initial and continuing eligibility.
  • Monitors all recruiting activities.
  • Assists in the investigation and reporting of NCAA infractions.
  • Tracks information related to amateurism, employment, and extra benefits.
  • Reviews playing schedules and monitors practice schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • Preferably one to two years related experience and/or training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages one Compliance Coordinator, one graduate assistant, and other volunteer workers as appropriate.
