Certified Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide primary medical coverage of assigned teams as deemed by supervisor


• Evaluate and treat intercollegiate varsity and club sport student athletes


• Provide on-site medical coverage of all in-season practices, home contests, and select away contests as assigned by supervisor


• Maintain the appropriate credentials, e.g. certification with the BOC, State of Maine licensure, and advanced CPR for the professional rescuer


• Assist in the daily operations of the Carl E. Nelson Sports Medicine Center; supervise and educate student workers as deemed by supervisor


• Provide effective communication to athletic coaches and head athletic trainer


• Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members


• Maintain proper electronic medical records for the clients being served


• Stay informed of current trends within the profession


• Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment


• Serve on various College committees as necessary


• Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience; advanced degree preferred


• Three to five years of previous experience preferred


• Ability to travel with teams as assigned by head athletic trainer


• Must be eligible for Maine State licensure


• BOC certification and First Aid/CPR/AED certification for a professional rescuer


• NATA membership preferred


• Valid driver’s license required and must meet the College’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements


• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment


• Strong positive communication and interpersonal skills with all levels


• Excellent oral and written communication skills
