Job Summary
Description
- Reports to the Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning.
- Develop sport specific strength and conditioning programs for selected sports teams.
- Manage and oversee the Spagnuolo Fitness Center which serves the campus community at large.
Primary Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities
- Collaborate with athletic training staff, medical staff, student-athletes, coaches, and administration regarding workout, flexibility, and rehabilitation programs for all athletes.
- Liaison to head coaches on matters related to strength and conditioning.
- In conjunction with head strength and conditioning coach, create and maintain files and up to date records for all current athletes.
- Assist in developing yearly schedule of strength and conditioning center.
- Work with head strength and conditioning coach in monitoring safety of personnel, maintenance of equipment, and adequacy of supplies.
- Consult with compliance and administration to ensure that all workouts are permissible within the NCAA parameters for pre-season, during season, and off-season time periods.
- Foster an environment which encourages the highest level of professionalism and respect.
- Offer guidance in areas such as sport performance and nutrition to student-athletes.
Primary Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities
- Manage and maintain hours in the Spagnuolo Fitness Center.
- Coordinate with Head Strength and Conditioning Coach budget development for accounts related to the operation of the Fitness Center.
- Develop and maintain short and long-term plans for capital purchases, equipment replacement plan, and daily procedures for Fitness Center.
- Oversee procedures related to hiring, training, supervising, and retaining student employees while ensuring proper payment is being provided (work study and student payroll).
- Coordinate with both student and custodial staff members to ensure proper cleanliness.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is being conducted from equipment providers and maintain funds available for the upkeep (preventative and emergent) of all equipment.
- Scope of the position may require weekend, evening and/or early morning work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in a related field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, etc.).
- Master's preferred.
- Experience working in a college athletics department or academic setting preferred.
- Excellence with interpersonal communications (written and oral) skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
- Must be comfortable working in a flexible, team environment with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Unwavering commitment to academic integrity, inclusion, diversity, gender equity, student-athlete welfare and knowledge of NCAA and Title IX compliance.
Certifications or other Qualifications
- Applicable certifications required (CSCS or CSCCA).
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- NCAA compliance background check.
- Successful completion of first aid, CPR and AED certifications.
