Job Summary
Duties/Responsibilities
- Coaching, monitoring and developing recruiting programs; supervising activities of assistant coaches and volunteers
- Maintaining academic integrity of program
- Budget development and monitoring, assisting with fundraising; participating in public relations activities
- Operating the program within NCAA, university and conference guidelines; assisting with scheduling of non-conference games
- Demonstrating a commitment to the department mission and core values.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross-Country Program.
- Assist the Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach in the overall administration of the track and field program.
- Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
- Work with the Director of Athletics on the selection and scheduling of team contests.
- Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
- Develop and conduct pre-season, in-season and off-season training and conditioning programs for the team.
- Plan and direct athletic skill development for student-athletes.
- Monitor and operate within budgetary guidelines established by the Director of Athletics.
- Evaluate performance of assistant coaches.
- Work in collaboration with Associate AD for Compliance to advise student-athletes and staff of applicable intercollegiate athletic rules, regulations, and University policies and ensure compliance of such regulations.
- Work in collaboration with Associate AD for Student-Athlete Welfare to inform student-athletes of academic and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
- Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement team, athletic department, and University measures to support their academic performance.
- Ensure student-athletes participation in NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills and SAAC initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities
- Cooperate with the University physicians and Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
- Work with alumni student groups University administration and community groups to seek support for the team.
- Assist the Director of Athletics in fundraising and revenue generation activities- including camps/clinics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and two years successful coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree and/or two years successful head coaching at the collegiate level.
- Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to high academic standards and thorough knowledge of NCAA rules.
