Job Summary
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Creation and execution of a cohesive and comprehensive student-athlete development program that aligns with the Athletics Department's vision and virtues.
- This program should coincide with the academic and career path of a four-year student-athlete while balancing time demands and programming opportunities across campus;
- Advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC);
- Assist in the facilitation of campus-wide Career Service initiatives and programming to the student-athlete population; and
- Oversight of student-athlete community service initiatives.
The Director of Student-Athlete Development & Academic Engagement will assist in these pursuits by supporting assigned sports programs in the following ways:
- • Consult with student-athletes and coaches regarding academic performance and progress towards graduation;
- • Facilitate interaction between student-athletes and appropriate campus and academic resources;
- • Support student-athletes in finding ways to effectively communicate with campus faculty and administration in order to navigate potential concerns or conflicts that may arise; and
- • Supplement faculty advisors by acting as another support resource for student-athletes when developing academic schedules, major exploration and planning, and maintaining progress towards graduation per university, Patriot League, and NCAA eligibility expectations and requirements.
Qualifications:
- • Experience in working with and/or providing support to a diverse student population with a variety of identities, including student-athletes of color
- • Robust organizational skills with the ability to independently handle multiple tasks
- • Strong interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
- • Position requires availability on limited nights and weekends for athletic events and meetings.
- • 1-2 years of experience working with student-athlete development and/or academic support services within intercollegiate athletics
- • 2 or more years of experience working with student-athlete development and/or academic support services within intercollegiate athletics
- • Previous experience working with campus/athletics data and administration systems.
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master's degree Preferred
