Assistant Director of Media Relations

Job Summary

Job Overview

• The individual filling this position will be a member of the department’s media relations staff and report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations.

Requirements

• Experience in a collegiate or professional media relations environment.
• Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and The Automated Scorebook.

Responsibilities

• Serving as the primary media contact for women’s soccer, baseball and possibly an additional Olympic sport program.
• Producing media guides, game notes, news releases and feature stories; generating feature content, video and other unique coverage for the official website of University Athletics.
• Responds to media requests.
• Staffing home and selected away events.
• Supervising statistical crews and other event support personnel.
• Facilitating social media outlets.
• Compiling statistics, researching historical records for the department of athletics publications.
• Assisting the media relations staff with additional duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience required.
