Job Summary
Basic Functions:
- Under supervision of the Head Coach, provide assistance in all aspects of coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for nationally-competitive programs.
- Individual reports to the Head Coach.
Job Functions:
- Assist in organizing, preparing and conducting practices, competitions, and player meetings;
- Recruit student-athletes in accordance with all rules and regulations;
- Evaluate athletes for potential fit for programs
- Assist with the holistic development of student-athletes
- Represent the program and the college to students, parents, alumni, and the general public;
- Assist in managing the daily operations and administration facets of the programs - including but not limited to - office administration and organization, equipment and apparel management, hosting of home tournaments, social media, and marketing of both programs for recruiting purposes
- Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives;
- Assist in all duties as assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics
- Assist with all team camps and clinics
- Monitor academic progress of student athletes
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics This is a live-on staff position that requires regular shifts on the Student Development professional staff on call rotation
- This scheduled rotation is shared by other College personnel and is required during residency on campus in sport season and out of sport season.
- Assist in documenting and enforcing university policy, managing crisis situations, take direction, provide on call response as appropriate and report maintenance and safety concerns.
- May assist in facilitating educational meetings with students; may assist in mediation meetings; refer students to appropriate College personnel and resources for needed assistance.
- Serve as a role model and resource for students who live in our campus residence halls.
- Perform administrative, and/or other duties for the department as assigned.
- Attend training sessions and other meetings as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport its playing rules
- Ability to foster a team environment
- Knowledge of travel, lodging, planning, and scheduling
- Commitment to the philosophy of athletics
- Sufficient knowledge of rules and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes
- Ability, and desire, to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the year.
- Moderate physical activity.
- Requires handling up to 25 pounds.
- Standing and or walking for more than four hours per day.
- Good problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must have a current, valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and/or experience in a residential, college environment.
- Demonstrable experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
