Job Summary

JOB OVERVIEW This position is responsible for managing all Section and Foundation communications, marketing, social media, and promotion. The job requires the individual to be detail oriented, creative, and willing to build relationships across all aspects of our business. This includes our PGA Professionals, members of the media, junior golfers, sponsors, junior golf parents, and other friends of the STPGA. This position will also manage both the STPGA Awards Program as well as the STPGA Scholarship Program. JOB DESCRIPTION  Website Responsibilities o Manage and update all three websites with current information o Help transition to new website provider that the STPGA is currently in the process of doing  Social Media Responsibilities o Manage and maintain all social media channels for both the STPGA and the STPGA Junior Golf program (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo, Snapchat) o Develop annual content calendars and overall strategies to enhance our external presence to all parties o Create systems to track social media impressions and overall reach by the organization  Communication Responsibilities o Develop and write content for Section Weekly Headlines, Junior Golf Weekly Headlines, and Member Monthly newsletters o Write and submit monthly PGA of America newsletter o Write and create quarterly Digital E-Magazines o Manage fulfillment of sponsor communication elements o Write and submit press releases to local media of important event information and other highlights of what the STPGA is doing o Develop creative pieces such as pictures and images for all channels  Staffing Responsibilities o This position will recruit, hire, train, and manage one (1) communications intern for the spring, summer, and fall o Write and update communication intern manual and job description  Other Responsibilities o Create a weekly marketing report with assistance of the Junior Golf Marketing Plan o Create partnership proposals and other professional programs for key events each year o Management and upkeep of communications equipment o Management of databases and the numerous distribution lists that we own o Assist the Assistant Executive Director with the conduction of Annual Meeting o Assist the Assistant Executive Director with Fundraising Programs o Manage media contacts and relationships o Collaborate with all departments for maximum exposure for all programs and events.  Scholarship Program o Manage and run the STPGA Scholarship program which includes working with our Scholarship Committee and Trustees o Promote and collect all applications and help assist in ranking individuals for scholarships  Awards Program o In partnership with the Executive Director, manage and run the STPGA Awards program which includes working with our Awards Committee o Collect applications, oversee and administer chapter voting, and write bio’s on winners for the annual meeting  Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES  Detail oriented with a focus on professionalism, creativeness, and willing to go above and beyond  Oral and written ability, including skills in interpersonal communications  Skills in Database management  Skills in Microsoft Office and Google Products  Knowledge and skills in e-marketing products such as Act-On and Survey Monkey  Skills in Adobe Creative Suite, video creation, and Photoshop  Skills in photography and editing  Knowledge of social media platforms and tracking of data and impressions  Willingness to learn new things while on the job  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision  Ability to handle many different tasks at a time  Ability to be flexible and adapt to last minute changes  Ability to travel within the region of the Southern Texas PGA section – this includes overnights and weekend work at times  Overall understanding of the game of golf, the PGA of America, and PGA Professionals EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Communications/Marketing or related major  Between 2-4 years of marketing and communication experience preferred  Golf industry experience preferred but not required  Professionalism in all forms is required COMPENSATION PACKAGE Base Salary  $40,000 - $50,000 based off experience
