Job Summary

Essential Functions

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Duties:

  • Working with coaches, athletes, and medical professionals to evaluate the player condition.
  • Creating exercise and nutrition plans.
  • Speaking to coaches, family members, and athletes to set health and fitness goals.
  • Designing training and rehabilitation programs for athletes.
  • Using knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes.
  • Referring athletes to another doctor or other medical staff members.
  • Assisting and monitoring injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery.
  • Maintaining records relating to athlete condition and training, diet, and treatment plans.
  • Handling clerical tasks, such as maintaining inventory, assisting with budgets, or restocking supplies.
  • Before each sport season, stock and replace supplies needed for that specific season. Assist in ordering needed supplies.
  • Discuss with current coach specific needs of the team.
  • Communicate with current coach your expertise and treatment philosophy.
  • Be prepared for any traumatic injuries and be prepared to seek additional advanced personal for treatment or transport to hospital.
  • Administer CPR/AED/1st Aid when necessary.
  • Follow Blood Borne Pathogen procedures for blood spills.
  • Follow universal procedures for bodily fluids.
  • Follow guidelines for recognizing concussions.
  • Coordinate with AD on scheduling.
  • Stay current in all trainings. 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRNONMENT:

  • Bending, pulling, pushing, twisting, crouching, gripping hands & fingers, kneeling, lifting/carrying 0-100 pounds, reaching, stooping occurs frequently.
  • Awareness and ability to see athletic hazards and potential injuries.
  • Hearing voice conversation, sitting, standing, and walking occurs in this job

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters required in athletic training or related field.
  • Successful job experience in this field of athletic training or treatment of athletes
  • Committed to meet all the attendance requirements of all the games for the season.
  • BOC/ATC/NATA Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Current CPR/AED/1st Aid certificates
  • Experience in treating athletic injuries
  • Concussion training
