Job Summary


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify talent transfer opportunities within the Olympic sports and develop both short-term and long-term strategies around talent transfer. This includes building an understanding of the physical, physiological, mental, and other attributes that are necessary for an athlete to achieve success in a new sport as well as well as the tests that can be used to evaluate those attributes. Specific to this initiative, the individual would build a sport needs inventory that defines the ideal attributes for athletes competing in each of the Olympic sports/disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the USOPC Sport Performance, Marketing, and Collegiate Partnership Divisions, as well as other relevant internal and external constituents (e.g. Universities, NGBs), to identify opportunities to evaluate athletes who have the ability to transfer into a new Olympic sport.
  • Build relationships with external organizations (e.g. NSCA, NCAA, professional sport teams, Military, Crossfit, USOPC sponsors, scouting agencies, etc.) to facilitate the identification, and transfer, of talent between sports.
  • Develop educational and promotional materials that can be used to promote the concept of talent transfer and spread the word around talent transfer opportunities.
  • Research the international performance landscape and bring learnings/ best practices to the USOPC, as they relate to talent transfer.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the Next Olympic Hopeful program, and other USOPC talent transfer programs.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Performance Projects, contribute to the development of a long-term strategy for a talent transfer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceExperience:
  • Minimum of 2 years working in high level sport
  • Familiarity with athlete testing and monitoring
  • Data collection, analysis and interpretation
  • Past experience with talent transfer and talent identification, preferred

Skills:

  • Leadership and critical thinking
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail. Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Customer service and ability to build effective relationships
  • Ability to work independently
