Job Summary


Basic Responsibilities
A. Coaching Student Athletes
B. Recruiting
C. Game Management
D. Fundraising
E. Other duties as directed by Head Softball Coach

Essential Duties

A. Coaching student athletes
1. Teach principles, skills and techniques of the game
2. Develop physical skills of softball
3. Develop mental skills of softball
4. Ascertain game plan for opponent
5. Oversee academic progress for softball student athletes

B. Recruiting
1. Evaluate potential softball student athletes
2. Recruit potential softball student athletes via email, phone contacts, and personal visits on and off campus
3. Responsible for managing the recruiting online database and completion of NCAA, Southland Conference and the university compliance related materials for recruiting.
4. Establish and develop relationships with high school and club coaches and other sources of potential softball student athletes

C. Game Management
1. Coordinate certain game day management functions for officials and game staff in coordination with Assistant Athletics Director/Operations
2. Responsible for securing game film, statistics and all related media 
3. Responsible for assisting Assistant Athletics Director/Operations with the coordination and scheduling of high school playoff games and other outside groups wanting to use Wells Field throughout the year

D. Fundraising
1. Developing and coordinating fundraising opportunities at the head coaches discretion
2. Seek and maintain relationships with alumni, community advocates and current and prospective donors

E. Other duties as directed by Head Softball Coach
1. All other duties assigned.

A. Skills
1. Adept interpersonal and communication skills
2. Strong organizational skills
3. Excellent knowledge of softball

B. Training Modules Required
1. Softball clinics and seminars
2. Maintain current standing with NCAA, Southland Conference, compliance and university regulations
3. Leadership, management, and decision-making workshops

Qualifications
A. Professional
1. Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
2. Coaching experience
3. Leadership or management experience

B. Personal

1. Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative
2. Strong communication and professional skills
3. Ability to work and interact well with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration

Physical Demands
A. Strong voice for extended period of talking
B. Able to endure extended periods of walking and/or standing
C. Able to demonstrate techniques used in softball
D. Able to adapt to long, extended hours of travel
