Media and Public Relations Manager

Job Summary

• Develops media-pitch content in collaboration with Director of Communications & Public Relations to promote and gain exposure for US Equestrian, athletes, and members.


• Pitches diverse and sport focused story concepts to both niche and mainstream media outlets, while maintaining contact lists of reporters and news desks.


• Collaborates on writing assignments and production of content and/or editorial pieces featuring athletes, competitions, and members. 


• Assists with crisis communications development and implementation.


• Manages media centers and press operations at designated competitions.


• Covers and amplifies exposure for championships and other high level international and national equestrian competitions.


• Assists with development of social media strategy relative to public relations initiatives and media-related content. 


• Writes communication plans on high level initiatives and programs.


• Reviews media data trends and analytics to tailor digital and print pitch strategy accordingly. 


• Assists in the management of media partnership relationships and asset delivery. 

EDUCATION

• College degree preferred.

• Strong writing and editing experience, successful experience engaging members of the media and securing media placements required.
• Equestrian sport knowledge and experience strongly desired.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be comfortable with writing and editing and have an understanding of grammar nuances.
• Must be organized, task-focused, and efficient.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity or expertise in email content creation and distribution.
• Candidate must have a proven ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively, as well as work collaboratively across departments.
• This position requires travel and some weekend work.
