Job Summary
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as member of Department of Athletics senior leadership team: Assists in the direction, management and monitoring of the Department of Athletics.
- Serve as primary sport administrator for assigned sports.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Athletics and the Center for Advising, Career and Student Success, Student Health & Wellness Services, Office of Inclusive Excellence and Office of Title IX/DHR.
- Serve as Title IX Deputy for the Department of Athletics: Monitoring, supervising and maintaining compliance in regards to Title IX and Gender Equity. The incumbent will work closely with student-athletes, coaches and staff along with the University’s Title IX/DHR office to ensure training, education and effective communication of the University’s Title IX and Gender Equity rules and regulations.
- Works collaboratively with faculty and department advisors to ensure that student-athletes understand degree requirements for the major as well as general education requirements and NCAA DII progress toward degree requirements. Also works with staff from Admissions, Retention, EOPS, and Registrar to support new and continuing students.
- Providing oversight and leadership to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), departmental community service projects, and the NCAA DII Make-A-Wish campaign.
- Advises Athletic Director on all student-athlete experience issues.
- Serve on California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Executive Council: Attends conference meetings, NCAA conventions, and serve on committees.
- Maintain department student-athlete handbook.
- Assists with game management.
Other Functions:
- Participates in university task forces and special projects as required.
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND three years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics; which has included training and supervising the work of others.
