Job Summary

 

Job Summary:

  • Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the head coach will be responsible for the organization and management of the women’s soccer program.
  • This individual must have strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills in order to teach/coach, recruit and deal with others both inside and outside the college.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions; listed in order of importance and significance:

Recruiting

  • Develop and execute an effective recruiting plan to reach agreed upon recruiting and competitive goals for the team
  • Identify prospective student-athletes qualified for admission to Rosemont College
  • Effectively communicate with prospective student-athletes and coordinate recruitment efforts with Rosemont’s Office of Admissions (especially with assigned sport counselor and use of Jenzabar JRM)

Teaching/Coaching & Student-Athlete Experience

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to develop, technical sport skills, strategies and program philosophy
  • Promote student-athlete welfare and provide appropriate mentoring to student-athletes and assistant coach (es)

Program Administration

  • Schedule practices & games (in conjunction with Assistant Director of Athletics)
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies
  • Carry out team travel according to established policies and procedures - inclusive of travel/meal sign-off and receipts
  • Produce required information as it pertains to the team to Assistant Director of Athletics for compliance purposes, and the Sports Information Director for statistical, website management and promotion/publicity
  • Regularly (~ every 3 weeks) meet with Assistant or Director of Athletics as assigned, and attend monthly coaches meetings
  • Be present at all CSAC in person or conference calls: preseason, awards, and postseason (as they relate to each sport)
  • Comply with all mandatory reporting or film exchange as required by CSAC/NCAA
  • Coordinate all fundraising activities for the program
  • Effectively communicate with the Department of Athletics staff and the College community on matters pertaining to the program
  • Operate within all College, CSAC and NCAA III guidelines

Supervision

  • Identify, hire, train and evaluate assistant coach(es) (including volunteers) and manager(s) (as applicable)
  • Ensure that assistant coach/volunteer adhere to all College, CSAC and NCAA III guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 2-3year's experience in coaching-college level or significant experience at the high school/club level
  • Ability to recruit quality student-athletes to a strong academic environment
  • Ability to effectively teach and coach student-athletes in both a team and individual setting
  • A commitment to providing a positive role model and leadership to the team as well as excellent communication skills are required
  • Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the College and its programs, personnel, and philosophies
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid certified
  • Must possess a current driver’s license and a driving record insurable by the College’s insurer
  • Successful clearance of a criminal history record check; including ACT 153 paperwork/clearances.
