Position Overview:
  • The Director, Brand Strategy will grow the fanbase through a brand centered lens by acting as the lead across internal departments responsible for implementing and managing all branding elements of the NBA Team, including: experiential marketing, creating best in class storytelling platforms, working closely with all Marketing and Communication efforts on building the brand including developing sponsorable opportunities and being a central conduit for all branded content. ​

 
Essential Job Functions: 

  • Create strategy to successfully grow the brand in the DMV area and beyond through consistent, effective messaging and unified and engaging fan experience that deliver and drives the brand narrative. ​

  • Grow the brand through innovative experiences and activations that are authentic to multiple audiences including targeting new audiences that will position our brand as culturally relevant. ​

  • Develop experiential Marketing opportunities including events and initiatives that drive revenue, create unique opportunities for sponsors to partner with, grow fan base, and influence youth. 

  • Assist with the creation of integrated message and helping to communicate brand Positioning. ​

  • Help build the brand through consistency in all internal and external communications and assets. 

  • Track content for Digital, Marketing, CR, Game Pres and Productions with continuity through all mediums according to brand guidelines​

  • Collaboratively drive concept, innovation, and activation development holistically including ideation, insight definition, consumer/fan research development, and ultimately see ideas through final execution. ​

  • Ensure regular competitive, category and industry mapping to keep team on the forefront of the business landscape and to drive better marketing and experience innovation.​

  • Monitor analytics to track and recap each campaign focusing on engagement, reach, and conversion data. 

  • Evaluate and curate activations that pull consumers in and compel them to join the brand storytelling – from traditional events to experiential marketing.​

  • Lead and support the branded content and social influencer positions. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 
Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 7+ years of experience in Branding; Experiential Marketing. 

  • Experience leading a team. 

  • Excellent writing, communication and proof reading skills; outstanding attention to detail.

  • Knowledgeable about the latest technology and social media trends and tools. 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects) Content Management Systems. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

  • Organized, thorough and detail driven. 

  • Strong work ethic and ability to complete projects under deadlines.

  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
