Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the administration of the men’s and women’s athletic programs and provide oversight of all administrative, compliance, operational and business functions in accordance with the NCAA, WIAC, and University institutional policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all department members have full knowledge of and abide by the rules and regulations of the University, conferences NCAA and WIAC.
- Direct and make recommendations for all staffing personnel, including the hiring of all head coaches of the sports. Delegate responsibilities to assure efficient and productive operations of all administrative and athletic activities.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures including the preparation of department manual, necessary to effectively manage the University athletic program.
- Develop and supervise annual operating budgets and when necessary, have appropriate signature authority for same, including payroll for applicable athletic employees.
- Approve all conference and non-conference schedules.
- Direct all revenue generating activities and coordinate philanthropic activities in coordination with Advancement and attend Foundation meetings.
- Develop long range administrative, operational, compliance and athletic plans, consistent within Division III programs.
- Organize, direct and participate in activities that will promote a positive public image for the University on campus, as well as locally, regionally and nationally.
- Serve on University NCAA and/or WIAC committees, as appropriate.
- Serve on Chancellor’s leadership team, attend meetings and serve at the pleasure of the Chancellor.
- Serve as liaison for WIAC sport committees. Support the Higher Learning Commission [HLC] accreditation process, as required.
- Support and have oversight of camp[s] staffing and requisite budgets and complete annual performance evaluations for required span-of-control employees.
- Oversight and supervision of facilities and maintenance for sporting and athletic related environments.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Terminal degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five years of higher education teaching experience
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- The ability to communicate effectively to variety of audiences
- A record of scholarly, professional, or artistic achievements
- Relevant higher education administrative experience with progressively increasing responsibility
- Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience over all or portions of an athletic department in higher education including personnel and budget management
- Ability to lead a large group of self-motivated people to accomplish goals
- Ability to generate revenue for the Athletics department
Preferred: Experience in the development, coordinator and/or teaching a sports administration and/or athletic leadership academic program or courses.
