Director of Golf - College of Athletics

Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION

The Director of Golf is responsible for the management and administration of all activities related to the men's and women's golf programs and exercises direct supervision of recruiting, training, and coaching student-athletes participating in both sports. 

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY

The Director of Golf exercises direct supervision of the assistant coaches (volunteer and/or paid), graduate assistants, and students involved in the particular sport.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABITIES

• Coaches the men's and women's golf teams ensuring that both programs achieve the parallel goals of development of a quality, competitive athletics program and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes by engendering a coaching philosophy which promotes those goals and establishes an environment conducive to both.
• Develops an equivalent recruitment strategy and directs all recruiting activities, including selection of team members for both men's and women's golf programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of coaching or related experience. Experience in administrative functions, budgeting, fund-raising, promotional activities and public relations.

CERTIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
