Job Summary

Job Sumary
  • The Senior Manager of Accounting is primarily responsible for leading and managing activities in the Accounting department, including improvement of accounting processes using attention to detail.
  • This position will supervise a team of two accountants dedicated to various legal entities, with the focus on revenue- generating activities and the associated accounting. 
  • This position will work closely with other accounting leadership, in maintaining the chart of accounts and legal entity structure within the accounting system.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead full-time staff 

  • Responsible for ongoing coaching and career development of staff inclusive of Quarterly Snapshot reviews

  • Develop and manage employee performance standards through effective training programs, coaching performance and disciplining employees as appropriate

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting, reconciliation and reporting for the Company’s revenue streams and related deferred revenue accounts, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards.

  • Oversight of Ticket Office reporting template to ensure all transactions are accurately captured and reported.  

  • Oversight of CRM, ensuring contracts and revenue are accurately reflected in the system.

  • Review of monthly commissions to ensure timely and accurate processing and proper allocation between all related entities.

  • Responsible for accounting for NHL- related transactions and reporting.

  • Assist Accounting Manager with month- end close reconciliation process. 

  • Assist with the Annual Financial Statement Audit and year- end tax filings, including preparation and review of related Audit workpapers and external Firm Requests.

  • Monthly consolidation of entities financial activity.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements. 

  • Perform special projects, as needed.

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required with a master’s degree preferred

  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience; mix of public and private accounting preferred

  • CPA certification required

  • Demonstrated strong strategic leadership skills

  • Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with their team and business partners

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written); excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills; excellent organization skills

  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent planning skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to multi-task and learn quickly with a dedicated work ethic

  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and analytical skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; Great Plains experience preferred 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and as part of a team, taking on tasks at all levels

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required
