Job Summary

 

Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):


  • Assist with study hall (monitoring, meeting with  student-athletes regarding academic status/assistance, assist with registration, communicate academic progress and standing with appropriate staff, serve as a professional supervisor, monitor and leader of student-athletes).

  • Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with key campus constituents in an effort to determine needs and collect feedback on student-athlete academic services. 

  • Provides management in planning and developing multiple athletic counseling programs and associated student-athlete services including, but not limited to, the freshman orientation workshop, housing and meals, study skills training, academic orientation, and various academic and sports-related workshops.

  • In conjunction with Career Services, creates career awareness, facilitates career direction and enhances academic performance in an effort to facilitate degree completion.

  • Handles highly sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.

  • Develops, implements, evaluates and oversees educational workshops and programs designed to meet the academic, athletic, social and mental health needs of student-athletes including, but not limited to, stress management, study skills, speaking with the media, diversity, eating disorders, alcohol dependence prevention, hazing, violence and Title IX.

  • Works closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance to facilitate and resolve eligibility issues and support academically high-risk student athletes. 

  • Attend open houses/accepted students day/other admissions events

  • Cultivate  student-athletes as nominees for prestigious awards and scholarships

  • Assist with SAAC.

  • Assist in planning awards banquets.

  • Assist in planning leadership forums.

  • Assist with diversity and inclusion events.

  • Plan and implement community service events.

  • Prepares the NCAA Cohort report, annual reports and other ad hoc reports for the Director of Athletics as necessary and/or appropriate.

 

Requirements:

 


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Sincere desire to launch a career in college athletics administration

  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population

 

  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
