Job Summary


The work focuses on evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.  Educating and counseling of student-athletes is critical in this work as is health care administration in consultation with team physician and family-specific medical professionals.



Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)  

  1. Serve as the primary on-site athletic trainer at evening, weekend, summer, and off-campus athletics events as assigned by the head athletic trainer and director of athletics.
  2. Provide and coordinate injury treatment, rehabilitation, and cognitive assessments while maintaining records for all students.
  3. Communicate with the head athletic trainer, student-athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians regarding student-athlete injuries.
  4. Adhere to high professional standards in all areas including appearance and communication with students, coaches, faculty, staff, and families.
  5. Assist in cleaning and managing the supplies and equipment of the sports medicine program and supervision of training room during assigned hours.
  6. Attend required interscholastic athletics program meetings.

 

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)  

  1. Be available during the hours and dates set by the head athletic trainer and the director of athletics.
  2. Exhibit enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent-school setting.
  3. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  5. Demonstration of cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the culture lenses they bring to interactions.  
  6. An understanding of different perspectives, the ability to interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks. 
  7. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

 

Education and Experience  

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a field related to sports medicine.
  2. Experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or college level is strongly preferred.
  3. Be a NATA member in good standing.
  4. Possess NATA certification.
