Job Summary

 
 
Job Overview
  • Lead and manage the financial reporting and analysis forthe University Athletic. 
  • Coordinate with  functional teams and the Business Director on the development of expense budgets necessary to operate  functional areas and meet commitments.
  • Provide financial updates on progress against budgets. 
  • Hands­ on responsibility for all accounting processes associated with running the business. 
  • Perform the human resources function.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial reporting and budgeting

  • Prepare periodic  financial statements using Quickbooks

  • Meet  reporting obligations to the league and other external  constituents Work with  all functional teams to analyze, plan and reforecast  annual budget Prepare budgets for G&A expenses, salaries, taxes and benefits

Accounting

  • Perform all accounting procedures and controls, A/R, and A/P

  • Manage treasury function

  • Process payroll for front  office and players

  • Calculate periodic  commissions and bonuses

  • Administer merchant banking accounts- work  with  department users, run monthly reports, and record activity

  • Reconcile bank statements

  • Process per diem for team travel

  • Manage company  credit  cards- collect  receipts/reports from  users and record activity

  • Process employee expense reports

  • Prepare tax returns, including: monthly entertainment tax, quarterly sales tax, and annual income tax

  • Manage business insurance and coordinate certificate of insurance  requirements

Accounting cont.

  • Manage the audit process

  • Facilitate annual worker's compensation audit

  • Compile and issue 1099s

  • Human Resources

  • Onboard new employees, including players

    • Communication with employee (interview coordination, offer letter)

    • New hire paperwork 

    • Payroll setup


  • Employee off-boarding 

    • Communication with employee

    • Settlement agreements 

    • Payroll termination

    • Benefits termination


  • Benefits administration- manage annual renewals, analyze employee  contribution levels, enroll/terminate employees  as needed, review  monthly premium invoices, maintain separate plans for players

  • Maintain and update the Employee Handbook

  • Position coding, exempt and non-exempt, job descriptions with each position 

  • Employee files- physical upkeep of employee files 

  • Process and definition for interns and volunteers
