Assistant Director/ Academic Coordinator

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

• The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will assist the Associate Athletic Director with the day-to-day support services of the Rocket Student-Athlete Academic center.
• The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will serve as the Director of Football Academics and also oversee academic support services for additional sports teams assigned by the Associate Athletic Director.
• The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will work closely with student-athletes in the review of class scheduling, tutoring, or study skill needs and will be responsible for communicating with appropriate coaching staff regarding student-athlete advising, academic and athletic eligibility issues.

Other responsibilities would include the following but not limited to only these tasks: 

• Coordinator and communicating with campus offices, college advisers, department offices, student affairs, office of Provost, coordinator of athletic eligibility, and the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance to help ensure student-athlete progress-toward-degree completion according to NCAA, MAC and University guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have between three to five years of experience in the area of student development, teaching, collegiate athletics and/or student-athlete academic support services.
• At least one year of supervision over a full-time employee.
