Job Summary
Overview
The Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for managing the MLS & SUM budget and projections.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a daily liaison between the finance department and multiple MLS/SUM departments
- Provide finance support for budget owners of multiple MLS and SUM departments by working with them to manage budgets and track expenses, including the implementation and management of financial trackers, to properly monitor financial data and help make better business decisions.
- Gain a deep understanding of the underlying business of all departments supported in order to manage the departments’ budgets and projections as well as be heavily involved in the monthly financial close process
- Identify areas for cost improvements/revenue opportunities
- Assist in improving the overall budgeting process, including deeper cost analysis and more timely information
- Review financial reports and presentations for reporting to the Board of Governors and Advisory Finance Committee
- Analyze monthly financial data, and work closely with accountants during the monthly close process, including the identification and determination of accruals, re-classes, ticketing analysis and reporting etc.
- Support the Senior Director, Finance on projects as needed
- Ad hoc business reporting and analysis as needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience
- Strong financial and accounting skills
- Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail with the ability to analyze from a macro level as well
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to build strong working relationships with multiple senior executives and staff
- Diligence and persistence in obtaining necessary information
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Adherence to confidentiality
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Self-starter with good time management skills when urgent deadlines need to be met
Desired Skills
- Hyperion and Great Plains experience a plus
- Understanding of the soccer industry
- Experience working in FP&A
