Job Summary

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Designs, plans and coordinates trainings for retreats, educational programs, and initiatives to develop diversity awareness and intergroup communication and engagement.
  • Develops trainings and workshops to facilitate student understanding of issues related to diversity and intergroup relations
  • Develops restorative educational practices for implementation; and creates opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and administrators to engage across differences.
  • Develops and implements initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for both majority and underrepresented student athletes.
  • Meets the unique DEI needs of the Athletic Department by overseeing ongoing training, workshops, and departmental counsel that enhances education and knowledge for all members of the department and the campus community.
  • Builds the department's regional and national network
  • In concert with the staff members of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Marketing and Communications, works to innovatively communicate the office's brand, reflecting its mission, objectives, policies, programs, events, and other relevant information regarding DEI throughout the community.
  • Administers the office website and social media, updating it regularly with relevant news from the office and campus community, as well as broad issues/news interests.
  • Develops and distributes marketing materials for programs and events and manage the DEI calendar of events.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience directly related to the position responsibilities, including experience with diversity, equity and inclusion training – preferably with Division I student-athletes, coaches and administrators
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Demonstrated orientation to high service levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intercollegiate sports and administrative functions of a Division I athletics program, including applicable NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of intercollegiate sports and administrative functions of a Division I athletics program, as well as of business practices and procedures
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement programs and initiatives utilizing technology to establish communications and maintain information on programs and initiatives
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, motive and manage people, develop and maintain effective relationships, and foster a cooperative environment
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities
