Job Summary

 

Job Description:

  • Write, teach, conduct, and modify strength training workouts for all student athletes.

  • Write and implement efficient periodized strength training programs for all teams.

  • Assist athletic training staff with pre-participation athletic health screenings.

  • Work collaboratively with coaches from all programs when designing programs and implement timetables to carry out the programs.

  • Monitor athletes during workouts to maintain safe, positive, and effective sessions.

  • Work with coaches and athletic trainers to implement efficient dynamic team warm-up programs.
  • Document all workouts and teams programs.

  • Refer injured athletes to athletic training services.

  • Communicate frequently with athletic trainers regarding injured athlete's progress in return to lifting programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Required Degree(s): Master's degree 

  • Required Field of Expertise: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Strength & Conditioning

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Strength & Conditioning

  • Required Training/Cert: MSCC or SCCC certification from Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Association, or CSCS certification from National Strength & Conditioning Association; and First Aid, CPR and AED certification

  • Preferred Training/Cert: Functional Movement Screening

  • Required Licensure(s): Valid and insurable driver's license

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of advanced practice strength and conditioning programming with skills beyond minimal level of qualification.

  • Able to manage situations in a competitive and busy athletic environment.

  • Understand and utilize computer functions and software such as word processing, spreadsheets, internet search, social media, and web-based patient medical records management.

  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including nights and weekends, as well as the potential for infrequent travel with teams.

  • Physical ability to bend, twist, reach, run, and lift at least 80 lbs.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student body and College environment
