Job Summary
Head Coach
- Organize and monitor the student-athletes’ conditioning program.
- Coordinate practice and game “on field” coaching.
- Maintain regular office hours, be present at all games and practices and during the off season.
- Be prepared to turn in practice schedules for the upcoming week.
- Effectively analyze and teach fundamental skills of lacrosse.
- Supervise the conduct and discipline of student-athletes as it reflects on the team, University, Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), and NAIA.
- Drive student-athletes or other students to team activities and/or athletic events.
- Tally stats and make weekly reports to the CCC and NAIA by the due dates.
- Distribute and collect athletic uniforms and gear, ensuring they are clean and ready for the next game.
- Create, hire, and supervise a team manager position (with the AD).
- Comply with all policies and regulations of the University, CCC, and NAIA.
- Comply with the budget guidelines set by the AD
- Monitor/track student’s grades
- Attend Athletic Department meetings, meet weekly with Athletics Director
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, participate, and assist with the operations and activities of the Athletic Department (e.g. Fitness Center coordination, game management, laundry room over-site, summer camps).
- Supervise, oversee, and train designated student assistants and interns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job-specific Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience coaching lacrosse and/or teaching physical education
- Competitive athletic experience as a player or coach.
- Ability to successfully recruit skilled student-athletes.
- Ability to effectively analyze and teach fundamental and advanced skills of lacrosse.
- Ability to work well with others and relate positively with student-athletes.
- Effectively counsel student-athletes on personal conduct, academic performance, and athletics.
- Ability to drive student-athletes or other students to team activities and/or athletic events.
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
- A working knowledge of the CCC and NAIA eligibility and recruiting rules and regulations.
