Help develop and implement an overall Athletic Training program which includes and is not limited to: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, recording of athletic injuries, coordinating care and referral of athletes with other allied health professionals, dealing with insurance issues, and educational programs and counseling for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Provide Athletic Training services (prevention, treatment, evaluation, rehabilitation, and recording of athletic injuries, coordinating care of athletes with other allied health professionals, dealing with insurance issues, and communicating with coaches, parents and athletes- these services are to be provided for all team practices, training sessions, and games) with Football and other teams as determined by the Director of Athletic Training.
• Provide referrals to student athletes to team physicians and other allied health professionals
• Supervise and support the Athletic Training Staff in the clinical supervision of Student Athletic Trainers
• Assist with staff and doctors, the development and implementation of policies in relation to the care of our student athletes
• Compile injury and treatment statistics for program for assigned sports
• Administrative duties as determined by the Director of Athletic Training
• Insure consistent communication and follow up of student-athletes well-being to Athletic Department administrators, personnel, and team physicians.
• Coordinate physical examinations and medical referrals for assigned student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
• Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medicine program.
• Work in collaboration with the strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental wellness, physical therapy, and sport science staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition, preventative programs, and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
• Assist in managing Athletic Training Facilities (includes inventory, maintenance of physical facility and equipment, and staffing)
• Aid the Athletic Training Education Program in the recruitment and selection of Student Athletic Trainers
• Supervise student Athletic Trainers as they provide services to our athletes as a preceptor of the Athletic Trainer Education program
• Maintain Athletic Training Certification and State Licensure by attending educational courses, seminars, home study courses approved by the National Athletic Training Association
