Job Summary

Position Title: Senior Accountant

The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to the promotion and sustainable growth of disc golf, sanctioned close to 5,000 tournaments in 2019. The PDGA is headquartered in Appling, Georgia, and serves as the international governing body for the sport of disc golf. The PDGA seeks a skilled senior accountant who will be responsible for maintaining complete and accurate accounting of books and records for entities including general ledger maintenance/reconciliation, financial reporting, budgeting, taxes, audits, and special reports. Reports to: Executive Director

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review general ledger and make needed adjustments to journal entries.
  • Process incoming/outgoing invoices, bills, and payments.
  • Oversee audits, inventory controls, and fraud detection programs.
  • Manage annual tax filings and requirements.
  • Conduct credit card and bank transactions, deposits, payments and reconciliations.
  • Track and manage deferred revenue and aging accounts.
  • Manage depreciation schedules.
  • Develop pro forma financial statements and in-depth financial analysis.
  • Process per diem and reimbursement requests.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting or business or equivalent work experience.
  • Four (4) years experience doing the full scope of accounting work for a business (CPA or equivalent certification may substitute for this experience).
  • Knowledge in GAAP, financial reporting, and other accounting related systems.
  • Excellent skills and experience in QuickBooks.
  • Experience with MS applications with proficiency in Excel.
  • Confident in working independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills.
  • Interact professionally with staff, board of directors, members, volunteers, and fans.
  • Effective conflict resolution with diplomacy and kindness.
  • Team mentality and positive personality is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Passion for disc golf.
  • CPA

Other Requirements

  • Successful candidate is expected to reside within a daily commuting distance of Appling, GA.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings if needed.
  • Aptitude and desire to learn new skills and processes.
  • Must be a U.S. resident with a valid driver’s license and personal transportation (lack of mass transit to the IDGC).
