Job Summary

Basic Functions: Coordinate the daily operations and functions of Crown Fitness Center and Recreation Services (Entry Control, Recreation Services Office) at the Mitchell Athletic Center. Supervise student staff, part-time staff, and assist the administration as needed. Assist in the administration of member services and fitness center operations.

 

Job Functions: Recruit, hire, develop, schedule, evaluate, and retain a diverse student staff and part-time staff for building operations, under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Facilities and Equipment. Schedule approximately eighty students and part-time staff while staying within established departmental budgets (student positions include but are not limited to: Entry Control, Main Desk Operations, Recreation Services Office, Fitness Center Staff, Member Services Staff, and Supervisors for the Department of Athletics, Recreation, Health, Exercise and Sports Studies). Coordinate meetings and trainings for staff (orientations, onboarding, in-services, certification classes, continuing education, etc.), oversee payroll timesheets, and work with HR to solve any related issues. Create and maintain employment manuals, job descriptions, and staff policies and procedures. Reserve rooms and venues as necessary in EMS. Enforce all facility use policies and communicate policy issues as they arise. Assist with game management and venue set-ups as needed. Create setup and teardown procedures and how-to guides. Assist with special events as needed. Assist equipment manager with laundry if needed. Schedule lighting at venues when necessary. Submit work orders for needed repairs. Communicate with Director of Operations on access control issues. Serve as a liaison between Athletics and Conference Services during the summer. Assist in the creation and administration of membership policies. Process all community memberships, faculty/staff spouse, partner, and dependent memberships, and guest passes. Create standard operating procedures to train student staff on these tasks. Process locker rentals, equipment checkout, and other member related items. Create policies and standard operating procedures for all member services operations. Assist in supervising the Crown Fitness Center. Create and administer fitness center policies and procedures. Train staff on proper usage of all equipment, basic spotting techniques, and cleaning procedures. Develop and coordinate continuing education and fitness programming for students, faculty, and staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree or two years of college. Three years of related experience (Graduate Assistant experience counts as one year). Ability to participate in facility/event management; work schedule days/hours vary. Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with student employees, coaches, and all athletic personnel and administrators. Willingness to support the mission of the Department of Athletics, Health Exercise and Sports Studies. Certifications Required or able to obtain with in the first six months: Certified Personal Trainer, CPR/First Aid. Proficient in Word, Excel, and recreation management software. Willingness to attend professional development training and/or seminars annually. Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Sports Management, Recreational Sports, Exercise Science, or a related field. CPR/First Aid Instructor. Proficient in When2Work Scheduling, and EMS.
