This position performs a variety of tasks and functions to assist with carrying out day-to-day and game management operations for all athletic programs. The position will include monetary compensation for a 4-month term (February 1, 2021 through June 1, 2021). A unique & immersive Power 5 Experience.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Assists the Associate AD and Assistant Directors of Athletic Event and Facility Operations with all game day operations activities to include pre-game set-up, in-game responsibilities, and post-game responsibilities.
- Serves as the visiting team liaison for assigned sports, helps with travel logistics and covering practices, prepares and sends out operations guides, visiting team materials and tournament manuals; credential and signage production, preparation of hospitality spaces.
- Organizes necessary in-game support staff-ball people, public announcer, scoreboard operator, parking staff, security and police, student staff, medical services, etc.
- In-game responsibilities include crowd control, troubleshooting, upkeep of field/court, team and official liaison, support staff oversight, operation of scoreboards, clocks and sound equipment, etc.
- Department contact to assigned vendors and outside groups.
- Assists with upkeep and maintenance of facilities, ensuring playing fields and courts are prepared for team practices or games. Includes, but is not limited to, goals, nets, press box, restrooms, trash removal, electronics and speakers, lights. May include replacing or purchasing necessary equipment.
- Maintains supplies and equipment inventory, oversees and coordinates the maintenance and upkeep of department owned vehicles and golf carts.
- Attends all Event and Facility Operations staff meetings.
- Assists Event and Facility Operations staff with special projects which may include research, meetings, written reports and long-term planning & projects.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Ability to perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; subject to extreme heat and cold; subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions; subject to oils; exposed to infectious diseases.
- General knowledge of all ACC and NCAA competition guidelines related to game management.
- Ability to communicate with various constituents; general public; students; coaches; administrators.
- Strong work ethic.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office & Google applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of the University's automobile insurance policy.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Two years of related experience.
- Sports management degree or coursework.
- Previous experience working within an intercollegiate athletic program.
Accountabilities:
- Oversight of student workers for assigned athletic and non-athletic events.
