Seasonal Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

Job Description:

The Certified Athletic Trainer Intern is responsible for working with team physicians and the Director of Sports Medicine within the guidelines set forth by the NATA, NCAA, and the Commonwealth of Virginia to ensure the health and welfare of the University intercollegiate and club sport athletes.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain medical/administrative records
• Apply appropriate protective padding/braces/strapping/other orthotic devices
• Design/modify appropriate individual rehab of post-surgical/post-injury conditions; Instruct athletes on proper mechanics with rehabilitation exercises
• Evaluation for biomechanical issues and instruct the student-athlete on corrections
• Transport student-athletes to appointments for athletic injuries
• Primary sports coverage will be based on experience (could be, but not limited to: club sports, golf, tennis, cross country, women's lacrosse, field hockey, men's soccer, etc.)

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required
• BOC certification as an athletic trainer required and eligibility for a Virginia State License
• CPR and AED certification
