Job Summary
As part of the engineering team, you’ll be solving problems on both the Commercial and Sporting sides of the organization. You’ll work with various teams, including Digital Products, Sporting Analytics, Data Science, Coaching Education, and Core IT to grow the sport and the business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, integrate and maintain data pipelines using a variety of a structures to meet the needs of various platforms
- Develop cloud-based data storage solutions and integrations
- Consult with internal and external development partners on data management implementation
- Review new technologies and best practices in enterprise data architecture and their suitability for the organization’s mission and operations
- Collaborate with the Technology team to facilitate long-term application and systems integration through centralized cloud-based data structures
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science or a similar field
- 5 years of experience in an engineering role integrating multiple data streams into cloud architecture (both batch files and streaming)
- Deep understanding of relational and dimensional database paradigms as well as extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, application programming, and web and software applications
- Extensive knowledge designing data flows using services in AWS and Microsoft Azure
- 3+ years experience of both Python and an additional JVM language
- Knowledge of using Scala in Apache Spark
- 3+ years Linux experience
- Deep experience designing relational databases (Kimball, 3NF)- PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySql
- Experience with common APIs and web services: SOAP, REST
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of data usage in sports and sports business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Must reside or be willing to relocate to Chicago by April 2021
Desired Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree in computer science or a related field
- 2 years of experience leading architecture and implementation of data infrastructure
- Experience with Hadoop and MongoDB
