Account Executive, Advertising Sales

ROOT SPORTS™ is the television home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Kraken, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Timbers, Seattle Seawolves, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Big Sky Conference. The network delivers more than 425 live events each year across a five-state footprint. ROOT SPORTS is operated by AT&T Sports Networks, which operates regional sports networks in the Northwest, Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions. The four networks combined reach across 22 states and own exclusive rights to produce and distribute live events from more than 25 teams and conferences.

The Account Executive plays a critical role in the revenue generation and success of the network by selling dynamic sports sponsorships, innovative promotional packages, and targeted advertising spot schedules to direct clients and ad agencies. This individual will focus on developing and closing new business as well as maintaining and growing existing accounts. This is an outside sales role requiring heavy client-contact, in-person and via telephone/email.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Meet or exceed sales quotas.

• Actively prospect for, identify and develop new accounts.

• Develop, expand and manage assigned accounts to maximize revenues and increase business opportunities.

• Manage the sales cycle including account updates, collections, management of schedules, post-analysis of rating point delivery, accurate monthly and annual sales projections.

• Generate and present promotional ideas and packages that meet the needs of clients and are consistent with organizational guidelines.

• Negotiate rates and other contractual terms.

• Develop and execute an effective planning strategy to grow revenue year to year and achieve budget.

• Research, analyze, and monitor competitive media for new leads.

• Build relationships through regular client contact including hosting at live events.

• Gather and deliver to appropriate internal departments all client on-air materials including spots, logos and taglines in a timely manner for production and promotional needs.

• Facilitate cross-departmental communication through successful completion of projects.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Marketing, or Communications or similar is strongly preferred

• Five years of prior success in an outside sales role, preferably within the broadcast/cable and or collegiate/professional team sponsorship industry

• Demonstrated history of success with consistently meeting/exceeding sales goals

• Exhibits a professional demeanor that is highlighted in all communications, including written and verbal

• Proven ability to work with all levels of individuals, both internally and externally, with professionalism, integrity and tact

• Demonstrated talent with developing effective and innovative advertising packages

• Effective in developing new accounts and managing existing clients

• Skilled with persuasion and negotiation techniques

• Strong math skills and acumen with analysis

• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills

• Passionate knowledge of regional sports teams both pro and collegiate

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record

• Willing to work outside of normal business hours for client contact and entertainment
