Athletic Communications & Broadcasting Graduate Intern
Grand Valley State University Athletics
The GVSU Athletic Department is searching for a qualified, enthusiastic, creative, and driven candidate to serve as the Athletic Communications and Broadcasting Graduate Intern. This position will assist in leading the Grand Valley Sports Network production team while also filling various roles within athletics communications and social media. This position will receive a tuition waiver upon acceptance into graduate school up to 9 credits (6 minimum) in the fall and winter semester, and an annual stipend (10 months). It is expected that the selected candidate would hold the position for two years while completing their master’s degree. Start date for this position is August 2nd, 2021 with a strong preference of earlier arrival that will be discussed upon job offer.
Responsibilities
• - Produce and direct live home events on the Grand Valley Sports Network (www.watchgvsn.com)
• - Lead and train production crew on various roles and responsibilities
• - Create and update graphics for network productions
• - Assist in set-up and breakdown of multi-camera productions
• - Communications sport responsibilities (live stats, press releases, roster, schedule, team social media, etc.)
• - Create promotional videos for network events and highlight packages after events
• - Manage the Grand Valley Sports Network Twitter and Instagram (@GVSUSportsNet)
• - Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• - Four-year undergraduate degree
• - Experience working in collegiate athletics communications, broadcasting or related field
• - Proven experience with Adobe Creative Suite and video production
• - Ability to work flexible hours (nights, weekends, holidays) in a fast-paced environment
• - Strong writing and time management skills
• - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
• - Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premier, Photoshop and After Effects
• - Knowledge and experience in all social media platforms
• - Experience with NCAA Live Stats and/or Statcrew software
• - Knowledge of BlueFrame and Production Truck software
• - Familiar with Sidearm Sports web host
