Job Description:
The Associate Director of Sports and Wellness is responsible for the leadership, supervision and day-to-day operations of the University's Fitness Centers, which include management of facilities, fitness programming, adventure-based off campus experiences, fitness education and supervision of adjunct Fitness Education faculty and student staff. The Associate Director acts on behalf of the Director when assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains an outcomes-based programming model, centered on the principles of inclusion, empowerment, and personal well-being.
- Leads departmental assessment efforts by serving as the department expert in student learning, evaluation and assessment, including the development and maintenance of standards for all programs based on student learning outcomes.
- Assess, develops and implements risk management policies and procedures that support the University and Department's Strategic goals, and ensure facilities are in compliance with codes and regulations. This includes the coordination of staff safety trainings and certifications.
- Manages all aspects of the Fitness Education one-credit academic courses, including the hiring, supervision and evaluation of adjunct faculty, and regular assessment of course offerings.
- Teaches a 1-unit Fitness Education course (PED 100).
- Responsible for all aspects of an extensive student employment program including recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation.
- Coordinates the planning and implementation of Fitness membership programs for the institution as needed.
- Collaborates with other campus units and academic programs to enhance the educational and experiential opportunities for students.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides support to the Sports and Wellness program and various facilities as needed.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to support delivery of programs and services that enhance the general education and development of students.
- Participates in various Student Affairs Division and university committees and task forces as requested.
- Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
