Job Summary
Responsibilities and Authority Within the limits imposed by the college and NAIA policies, regulations, and limitations, each coach is responsible for and has commensurate authority to accomplish the duties set forth below:
1. Directly responsible to the Associate VP & Director of Athletics
2. Delegates responsibilities to assistants and/or team managers
3. Prepares the budget for the men’s lacrosse program
4. Demonstrates interest in/aptitude for:
a) Good sportsmanship-win or lose
b) Maintains poise/self-control at all times
c) Teaches team to play hard but fairly
d) Good host to visiting teams/coaches/spectators
e) Disciplines, and when necessary, dismisses players who disregard good sportsmanship and team policies
f) Respects the officials’ judgment/interpretation of the rules. If interpretation appeal is necessary, follows appropriate procedures
5. Organizes and conducts practice sessions
6. Works with Associate VP / Director of Athletics on team travel details as necessary
7. Makes appropriate reservations for vehicles, hotel, and food service in advance
8. Orders equipment/supplies following proper procedures
9. Responsible for an inventory of college-owned equipment and uniforms
10. Responsible for issuance/retrieval of equipment/uniforms from players
11. Responsible for all aspects of recruiting student-athletes to the men’s lacrosse program
12. Recommends scholarships for prospective men’s lacrosse student-athletes with the approval of the Associate VP / Director of Athletics
13. Develops professionally by attending clinics, workshops, and reading within the field
14. Assists student-athletes in completing necessary documentation (scholarship awards, Admissions, Financial Aid, etc.)
15. Works with the Associate AD – Media & Communications in regards to team publicity (photos, video streaming, gameday management, social media, etc.)
16. Works with the Associate VP / Director of Athletics and other staff members when scheduling and completing game contracts
17. Recommends student-athletes for awards, special honors, and committees
18. Furnishes team roster to department’s administrative assistant for eligibility checks by Records Office
19. Works with the Athletic Training staff as needed
