Director of Athletics - NCAA

Job Summary

Purpose of Position:

Coordinates the College’s intercollegiate athletics program, which provides ample opportunity for men and women to represent the College as members of athletic teams

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organizes, administrates, and coordinates the entire athletic program including the scheduling of all intercollegiate athletic contests and scrimmages


• Coordinates the selection process of new coaching personnel


• Supervises coaches and athletic personnel and conducts performance evaluations of coaches


• Fosters academic excellence among student-athletes


• Provides leadership, which fosters equity and ethnic/gender diversity within the athletic program


• Coordinates active public relations and fundraising programs with internal and external constituencies


• Develops and submits a proposed annual budget for the entire athletic program to the Vice President of Student Affairs for approval


• Initiates and implements the formulation of athletic policies and operating procedures

• Enforce NCAA rules and regulations


• Serves on campus wide committees


• Approves the purchase of all athletic supplies and equipment and manages the athletic budget.


• Prepares and reconciles expense reports as required by the Business Office


• Works collaboratively with all campus departments (i.e. academics, residence life, admissions, financial aid)


• Coordinates all travel arrangements for athletic teams


• Coordinates the planning of the Annual Athletic Banquet

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience, Competencies and Education

• Masters or other advanced degree in a relevant field required


• Minimum of three years of experience in an athletics administrative position


• A demonstration of progressive leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics, including: supervision of personnel, strategic planning, and proven fiscal management
