Job Summary

The Director of Public Relations and Broadcasting serves as a dynamic thought leader within the league office, overseeing all aspects of media relations, public relations and communications while leading an effort to maintain and enhance the New England League brand and presence both in the region and on a national scale. He/she will oversee the strategic development and execution of content dissemination across all platforms, including web, digital, print, external news platforms and social media. The incumbent will also be the point person for the league’s streaming platform and be involved with other projects as assigned by the Commissioner.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive multimedia plan that showcases the league, its member teams and its student-athletes to enhance the NECBL brand reputation through a comprehensive approach to public relations and media. 

  • Direct and manage the NECBL league website and social media channels while contributing a range of written, graphic design, and multimedia/video content.

  • Recruit and manage a team of interns to assist with in-season programming to interact with our players and fans while growing our audiences.

  • Oversee the League’s broadcasting platform and lead the efforts to coordinate with all member team broadcasting personnel to ensure successful live streaming, serving as liaison between streaming provider (BlueFrame) and broadcasters to assure quality webcast presentation.

  • Determine all weekly award winners and honorable mentions after analyzing weekly performances and produce applicable content for all appropriate channels. 

  • Track, maintain, and celebrate alumni successes, particularly at the start, middle and end of each MLB season (tracking current alumni in the pros, celebrating call-ups/debuts, following alumni success in MLB postseason). 

  • Build and maintain relationships with industry media outlets and personalities to support the League’s presence and media coverage for featured stories, milestones, special accomplishments, and special events. 

  • Keep the League at the forefront of new technology, marketing tools, and strategies to increase league/player-to-fan interaction and league's overall presence.

  • Provide strategic insights into growing the League’s status as a leader in college baseball, the New England region, and MLB. 

  • Serve as a point of contact for member teams’ media personnel. 

  • Attend Board of Directors meetings and serve on committees as requested. 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, preferably in communication, journalism, sports management, or related field; 3+ years of progressive leadership experiences in athletic communications/media relations, preferably at some level of collegiate/pro baseball and/or related field; experience with a range of web and new media, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite programs; experience with streaming  products/platforms and applicable technology; and strong written communication skills, and interpersonal skills are required. 

Compensation: This position is primarily volunteer driven, but includes a stipend.
