Position: Sales Manager
Reports to: SPORTFIVE Leadership – Executive Director and Tournament Director
Event: Barbasol Championship – Kentucky’s Annual PGA TOUR Golf Tournament
Objectives: Generate and track Hospitality, Pro-Am and Sponsorship Sales
Overview
SPORTFIVE is a global sports and entertainment agency founded in 1987 specializing in event management, talent representation, experiential marketing, and travel services. SPORTFIVE currently owns and operates five PGA TOUR events including Barbasol Championship, The American Express, Fortinet Championship and Puerto Rico Open. In addition to running first-class events, SPORTFIVE represents hundreds of athletes including professional golfers Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm.
The Sales Manager position generates revenue through local hospitality, pro-am and sponsorship sales. The Sales Manager works closely with the Tournament Leadership team to handle the administrative functions associated with these sales while generating new business and servicing repeat customers.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Sales, Marketing, or another related field preferred
· Two to four years of corporate business experience preferred
· Prior experience in the sports industry with exposure to event management or event sales preferred
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office including mail merges and intermediate level Excel and PowerPoint skills
· Salesforce / CRM experience preferred
· Prior experience of heavy volume of outbound sales calls
· Able to safely operate a utility vehicle such as, but not limited to, golf carts, utility carts, and shuttle carts
Job Description
· Lead daily sales initiatives on hospitality, sponsorships, pro-am and other revenue generating opportunities
· Lead daily client discovery meetings and manage sales process through contract execution
· Prospect new leads within the designated sales market - Lexington, Cincinnati, Louisville, and surrounding areas
· Set clear outbound sales calls/contacts goal and track progress using Salesforce
- Utilize Salesforce to track and house all sales contracts, forward approved copies to new and renewal clients within the established deadlines
- Generate the internal sales reports and validate the data to ensure that all sales are captured accurately
- During tournament week, interact with clients to ensure all of their needs are met, prospect new clients and assist Tournament Director to secure repeat purchases
· Work with Tournament Services Coordinator to ensure proper fulfillment of all sponsorship assets
· Support Tournament Staff in the organization, preparation, and execution of tournament hospitality areas
- Attend various community and charitable functions as a representative of the event
