ESPN Chicago Morning Show Producer (Chicago, IL) 

Good Karma Brands is looking for a high performing Morning Show Producer to join our ESPN Chicago market. Chicago, one of the largest, most talked about sports cities in the country, is frequently on the national stage, bringing local and national content daily. ESPN Chicago is Good Karma Brands’ (GKB) largest market yet, and now we are looking for an experienced and passionate Morning Show Producer to continue to lead us into the future. 

The Role of a Morning Show Producer 

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for the daily show preparation of an assigned sports talk show or shows. This person will meet with his/her assigned host(s) each day to discuss topics and plan segments for the show. The Morning Show Producer will manage the flow of the show, screen callers for the program and book any relevant guests. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the background material and execution of the show while live on the air and overseeing social media accounts and the imaging and sound of the show. The Morning Show Producer may also be asked to produce podcasts and coordinate with the marketing and sales department as needed. 

Daily Tasks of a Morning Show Producer 

• Responsible for daily show preparation for assigned talk show. • Meet with host on a daily basis to help plan shows. • Produce segments for daily broadcast. • Manage talent and flow of show in-studio during daily broadcast. • Complete daily tasks assigned from the Director of Content to meet broadcast deadlines. • Work with associate producer(s) to gather sound and music to enhance program segments. • Supervise and assist talk show host(s) while program is on-air. • Responsible for studio preparation for daily show. • Research background material for team, segments, and daily broadcast. • Screen fan telephone calls. • Create, produce and edit podcasts • Be a Good Karma Brands ambassador by adhering to the GKB core values: Listen, Be Honest, Follow Through, Work Hard, Teamwork, and Over Deliver 

Preferred knowledge, skills and qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 5 years of programming related experience at a satellite, traditional commercial, radio station. • Ability to thrive in a hectic, fast-paced, results and delivery-oriented environment. • Good project management and planning skills. • Recognizing and maintaining confidentiality of work materials as appropriate. • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with team at all levels. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Working independently and in a team environment. • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized. • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects. • Strong familiarity with all major sports, their personalities and the media that cover them.• Ability and willingness to travel for remote broadcasts when necessary. • On-site remote producing experience preferred. • Availability to early mornings on a regular basis. • Significant rolodex of contacts for guest booking. • Proficient in digital audio editing (Adobe Audition). • Ability to operate audio console. • With this career, you are required to hold a valid driver’s license. • This role has ‘in-office’ essential functions.  Hours/Salary/Benefits 

Good Karma Brands offers a competitive base salary plus commission. This role is eligible for full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, Life Insurance, STD, LTD, 401(k) Plan, paid parental leave, and more with opportunities for salary growth increase with skills and responsibilities and meeting targeted goals. The position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
