Full-Time Sports Writer/Blogger (Remote)

Job Summary

We're looking for a new writer/blogger to join our staff in a full-time capacity. We are a sports website that covers the hottest, viral content in the sports world every day. You must have an eye for what makes a great story, and an interest in writing about sports content.

We want someone who is hungry, eager to learn, and has a desire to help our site grow. This job is remote, so you can work from home.

You will be responsible for publishing multiple blog posts each day, based on topics you find, breaking news, or original content. Since we cover sports, you must be available to write when sports are played, such as nights, weekends and holidays. This is not your typical 9-5 job. You must have plenty of availability to work a writing shift whether it's the morning, middays or evenings, at any date during the week or weekend. 

Job Responsibilities Include:

- Pitch/Find and publish 5-12 blog posts per shift

- Spot and quickly react to news trends using sources such as Google Trends, Twitter, Facebook and other platforms

- Use Google Analytics to spot trends and identify opportunities  

- Promote our content through our Facebook page (need a FB account for this) and our mobile app

- Utilize our photo account to access photos, which you will need to crop and size to accompany your stories

Desired Skills and Requirements:

• 2-3 years experience as a digital writer/producer, preferably for a media company

- Strong Writing/Grammatical/Editorial skills

•Ability to multitask and effectively write in a fast-paced environment

•Must be knowledgeable and passionate about sports

•Familiarity with WordPress or a comparable CMS platform

•Strong knowledge of search engine optimization practices and familiarity with Google Trends and other SEO tools

•Experience with basic HTML
