Assignment Desk Coordinator

Job Summary

The Assignment Desk Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily newsgathering efforts. Duties include answering phones and emails; downloading and posting videos; and booking feeds, studios, and homecams as assigned. This position also requires communication skills needed to acquire video materials and clearance.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Journalism, Communications, Media or a related degree.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly to department standards.
• Basic knowledge of newsroom systems including iNews, Smartsheet, GSuite preferred.
• Knowledge of using FTP, file transfer mechanisms and LiveU a plus.
• Critical thinking required (to judge if a story is newsworthy, if sources need to be checked/wording is appropriate, if there is a risk to releasing certain information, and to verify accuracy and consistency of information).
